The Karoo Prick Company (“we”, “us”, “our”) makes gin, not mischief with your data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to www.karooprick.co.za and any orders or enquiries you make with us.

1. Information we collect

• When you contact us: your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message. This opens in your own email app — we only see what you send us.
• When you join the newsletter: your email address (and your name, if you choose to give it). We store this so we can send you very occasional emails about wholesale discount promotions.
• When you place an order: your email address, the items and delivery fee, and a unique order reference. Payment itself is handled by Yoco — we never see or store your card details.
• Automatic information: basic browsing details such as the pages you visit and general device information, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 4).

2. How we use your information

• To process and fulfil your orders, and to tell you about them if needed.
• To send the newsletter you signed up for — and nothing else, unless you ask.
• To reply to your enquiries, tastings, or stockist requests.
• To keep our records accurate and prevent fraud.
• To understand, in general terms, how visitors use the site so we can improve it.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Yoco, our payment processor, to handle checkout securely. Yoco’s own privacy policy applies to card data.
• Our hosting and email providers, who help run the site and deliver our emails.
• Authorities, if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights.

4. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to make the site work properly — for example, remembering that you confirmed you are 18 or older, and keeping items in your cart. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though you may need to re-confirm your age.

5. How long we keep your data

Newsletter signups and order records are kept for as long as needed to run the business and meet any legal requirements. You can ask us to remove your email from the newsletter list at any time.

6. Your rights

Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@karooprick.co.za.

7. Children

Our products are alcohol. The site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Our age gate asks every visitor to confirm they are 18 or older.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including storing order and newsletter data behind access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is fully secure, but we do our best.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above will always reflect the most recent version.
